2025-2026 Sample Law School Admissions Timeline

This law school admissions timeline outlines everything you need to stay on track from March 2025 through August 2026. Whether you’re targeting top programs or just trying to avoid the panic of last-minute applications, use this breakdown to time your LSAT prep, essays, recommendation letters, and more.

Mar 2025: Begin LSAT prep (3–6 month study timeline is typical)

May 2025: Draft or update resume, begin brainstorming personal statement (PS) and diversity statement (DS) content

June 2025: Start writing personal statement and diversity statement drafts

July 2025: Reach out to potential recommenders (give them plenty of lead time)

June–Aug 2025: Take first LSAT

Aug–Sept 2025: Take second LSAT (if needed)

Sept–Oct 2025: Finalize PS, DS, and resume; begin working on school-specific supplemental essays

Sept–Oct 2025: Take third LSAT (if still aiming to improve score)

Oct 31 (Halloween): Ideally submit applications before this date
