Pace Haub's White Plains campus combines environmental law with litigation, government, small-business representation, and public-interest work. The school also offers a Flex JD, adding another format for completing a legal education.
This guide walks you through how to get into Pace Haub Law.

1. Pace Haub Law Admissions Numbers and Statistics
Pace Haub Law Class of 2028:
- LSAT: 75th: 157 | Median: 154 | 25th: 151
- GPA: 75th: 3.77 | Median: 3.59 | 25th: 3.37
Pace Haub Law Class of 2027:
- LSAT: 75th: 156 | Median: 153 | 25th: 151
- GPA: 75th: 3.77 | Median: 3.53 | 25th: 3.20
Across the 2024 and 2025 ABA annual reporting windows, full-time enrollment rose from 230 to 247. The LSAT median rose from 153 to 154; quartiles moved from 151-156 to 151-157. The GPA median rose from 3.53 to 3.59; quartiles moved from 3.20-3.77 to 3.37-3.77. The 2024 report includes August and January starts. The part-time entering class had a 152 LSAT median and 3.37 GPA median. Those are different applicant pools, not interchangeable targets.
For the full-time program, a 154 LSAT and 3.59 GPA put the middle of the class in view.
Aim to be at or above at least one median to be competitive. Above both puts you in a stronger position. Below both medians, this is a prayer, not a reach.
For context on how medians affect your strategy, see How to Build a Smart Law School List.
2. Pace Haub Law Application Essays
Personal Statement (required)
The school's instructions:
“The Admissions Committee requires each applicant to submit a brief, typed, double-spaced personal statement as part of the application. Please submit a written statement of 500 words or fewer explaining why you want to pursue a legal career and how attending the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University will help you achieve your personal and professional goals.”
For more on addressing school interest within this personal statement, see my Why X Essay Guide.
For more on how to write a personal statement, see my Personal Statement Examples and Personal Statement Guide.
Haub Scholars Statement (required for scholarship applicants)
Applicants seeking the environmental-law Haub Scholars award should include a separate one- to two-page statement describing their interest in environmental law and intention to practice in the field.
For more on making all of these essays work together, see my Cohesive Narrative Guide.
Addenda and Character & Fitness (if applicable)
Character-and-fitness disclosures need the relevant facts and circumstances. GRE and JD-Next applicants must also provide the required identifying addendum for their alternative-test application.
I'll be publishing a guide to addenda and character and fitness.
3. Pace Haub Law Resume Requirements
A resume is required; the public JD checklist does not impose a page limit. Present education, employment, service, leadership, and substantial responsibilities clearly. Dates and concrete contributions matter more than legal-sounding descriptions. Keep the document proportionate to your experience rather than stretching it to manufacture depth.
For more on preparing your resume, see my Resume Examples and Resume Guide.
4. Pace Haub Law Letters of Recommendation
Submit two recommendations through CAS. Choose people who have directly assessed your reasoning, writing, reliability, or response to difficult work. A detailed academic or supervisory letter is more useful than a prestigious signature.
For more on recommendations, see my LOR Guide (Applicants) and LOR Guide (Writers).
5. Pace Haub Law Interview Process
Applicants to the combined BBA/JD program with Pace’s Lubin School of Business may be required to interview.
6. Pace Haub Law Deadlines and Decision Options
Application Dates
- Fall 2027 applications open: September 7, 2026.
- Rolling review begins: November.
- Priority filing date: June 1, 2027. Later applications are considered only as space permits.
Haub enrolls one entering class in the fall.
Testing and Fees
The general JD policy accepts the LSAT, GRE, or JD-Next, taken within five years of projected enrollment. An LSAT score takes priority when one exists. The foreign-university subsection separately requires the LSAT, leaving its conflict with the broader alternative-test policy unresolved. Alternative-test applicants must select the appropriate application box and supply the required addendum.
- Application fee: An application fee is required.
If you're considering the GRE, read my LSAT vs. GRE guide before deciding.
Program Formats
Choose the full-time JD or part-time Flex JD deliberately. Flex offers daytime, evening, weekend, or combined scheduling.
7. Pace Haub Law Scholarships and Financial Aid
Merit Scholarships
Admitted students are considered for awards ranging from $5,000 to full tuition. Ordinary merit renewal is conditional: a 3.0 GPA retains the full award; 2.80–2.99 retains half; below 2.80 loses it. The grading curve makes that a financial risk, not a formality. The 2025 ABA report records 119 reductions or eliminations among 285 students entering with conditional awards in the preceding cohort.
Named Scholarships
Haub Scholars adds environmental-law mentorship and scholarship support; submit its statement with the application. Renewal requires good academic standing. Opportunitas awards also use good-standing renewal. Endowed awards require both the AcademicWorks process and the subsequent law-school-specific form.
Need-Based Aid
The need-based Trustee Tuition Grant generally requires timely aid applications, continuing need, at least six credits in each fall and spring, and a 2.30 GPA.
2026–27 Costs
For 2026–27, full-time tuition and mandatory fees total $59,918. The published nine-month cost of attendance is $93,790 living independently, $87,798 on campus, or $73,502 with parents. Those budgets already include tuition and fees. Part-time tuition and fees total $44,894, before living expenses. Compare net cost and renewal risk together.
For more on scholarship strategy, see How to Negotiate Law School Scholarships.
8. Pace Haub Law Joint Degree Programs
- JD/MBA: The Lubin School of Business partnership combines legal training with management study. Separate admission is required. The school’s general dual-degree planning model is four years full-time, but business prerequisites can change the individual schedule.
- JD/MPA: The Dyson College public-administration partnership suits applicants whose work will involve government management or nonprofit administration. Apply separately to both programs.
- JD with a Yale master's degree: Options are Environmental Management (MEM), Environmental Science (MESc), Forestry (MF), and Forest Science (MFS). The four-year Yale School of the Environment partnership generally includes two-and-a-half years at Haub and one-and-a-half at Yale. Admission to each institution is separate.
- JD/MS with Bard: Bard’s Center for Environmental Policy provides another four-year route, including an internship and thesis.
- JD/LLM in Environmental Law: Qualified Haub students can apply up to 12 JD credits toward the LLM, leaving approximately one additional full-time semester or one part-time year. Most other dual-degree applications must be coordinated by the fourth full-time or fifth part-time semester.
9. Pace Haub Law Employment Outcomes (Class of 2025)
Pace Haub Class of 2025 employment outcomes (reported to the ABA, measured 10 months after graduation):
- Full-time, long-term bar-passage-required employment (ABA): 80.8%
- BigLaw (firms with 101+ attorneys): 12.6%
- Federal clerkships: 0.4%
- Public service (including government): 26.8%
New York is the principal destination, with New Jersey the next major market. The public-service share gives substance to Haub’s government and advocacy pathways, while large-firm employment remains a minority outcome. Build your plan around a practice area, a regional network, and manageable debt. An environmental specialty can sharpen that plan.
10. Pace Haub Law Areas of Study and Specializations
Environmental law: The Advanced Certificate requires at least 16 environmental credits, a 3.0 average in qualifying courses, a substantial research paper, and clinic or externship experience. Environmental Law Survey, Administrative Law, and Environmental Skills and Practice create a foundation for a focused rather than purely elective course plan.
Energy, climate, and land use: Energy Law and Regulation, Water Rights, and Land Use courses connect doctrine to regulatory choices. The Pace Energy and Climate Center and Land Use Law Center provide related experiential routes. Identify whether you want to work on permitting, municipal decisions, or energy regulation before choosing among them.
Food and agricultural law: The Food Law Center and Food and Farm Business Law Clinic connect food systems to business formation, regulation, land use, and access. This is a useful bridge between environmental interests and the everyday legal needs of producers and organizations.
Dispute resolution and investor protection: Securities arbitration and representation in mediation offer different advocacy settings. The Fairbridge Investor Rights Clinic develops client representation in investment disputes; the Gould clinic teaches representation in court-connected mediation. Neither should be confused with simply observing settlement discussions.
Health, disability, and family planning: The disability-rights clinic links public-benefits advocacy with planning documents and longer-term client needs. Applicants interested in access to care can connect that work to administrative law and the school’s health-law offerings without claiming that every health problem has the same legal solution.
11. Pace Haub Law Clinics and Experiential Learning
Clinics
- Amelia A. Gould Representation in Mediation Clinic: Students represent otherwise unrepresented litigants in federal-court and Westchester Surrogate’s Court mediations. They interview clients, assess claims, prepare negotiations, and advocate as counsel, not as neutral mediators.
- Barbara C. Salken Criminal Justice Clinic: Students defend indigent clients facing Bronx misdemeanor charges, handling investigation, bail, motions, negotiation, and trial preparation under supervision. The schedule includes substantial courthouse time, not just a weekly seminar.
- Environmental Litigation Clinic: Work includes factual development, research, filings, and hearings in state and federal environmental matters. Riverkeeper is a principal client, connecting student work to concrete water-quality and enforcement disputes.
- Equal Justice America Disability Rights Clinic: Students assist disabled and older clients with benefits disputes and planning. Work can involve Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare denials, wills, health-care proxies, powers of attorney, and future-care arrangements.
- Fairbridge Investor Rights Clinic: Students represent small investors in FINRA arbitration and mediation. Client interviews, factual investigation, claim evaluation, research, and settlement work connect securities doctrine to an individual’s financial dispute.
- Food and Farm Business Law Clinic: Students serve farms, food and beverage businesses, and nonprofits through entity formation, leases, contracts, regulatory advice, land-use work, and intellectual-property matters.
- Immigration Justice Clinic: This year-long, 12-credit clinic gives students supervised lead-counsel responsibility for low-income clients. Matters include asylum, family-based relief, protections for survivors, and other immigration remedies. Selection and the required preparation demand advance planning.
Pro Bono and Experiential Learning
Externships: Center-based opportunities include the Pace Energy and Climate Center and Land Use Law Center. Honors Prosecution places students in a district attorney’s office for two full days weekly, with a seminar and supervised interviewing, motion practice, and courtroom work. Prerequisites and selection apply.
12. Pace Haub Law Notable Faculty and Journals
Faculty
- Bridget J. Crawford, University Distinguished Professor and Professor of Law, studies taxation, wealth transfer, and gender. Her coauthored book Menstruation Matters connects legal institutions to questions often excluded from conventional legal analysis.
- Margot J. Pollans, Gilbert and Sarah Kerlin Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law and Food Law Center faculty director, works on food systems and environmental regulation. Her casebook work and Farm Bill Law Enterprise participation connect scholarship to food-policy institutions.
- Jill I. Gross, Professor of Law and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, specializes in securities arbitration and dispute resolution. She coedited a volume on the Federal Arbitration Act and brings experience as an arbitrator and former investor-rights clinic director.
- Katrina Fischer Kuh, Haub Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law, studies climate change and sustainability. She coedited The Law of Adaptation to Climate Change.
Journals
- Pace Law Review: Articles, notes and comments on legal developments.
- Pace Environmental Law Review: Environmental law commentary.
- Pace International Law Review: Public and private international law scholarship.
The IP, Sports, and Entertainment Law Forum is a separate publication platform, not a fourth law review.
13. Pace Haub Law Culture and Student Life
Haub’s White Plains setting places the law school in Westchester rather than on a Manhattan campus. Budget the actual commute and time required for Bronx, federal-court, or other off-campus work. A part-time schedule still needs room for preparation and experiential commitments.
Student life includes law-review work, environmental advocacy and competition activities, and the student newspaper Hearsay. Choose activities that deepen a real interest and put you in sustained contact with classmates. Flex scheduling and a distinctive specialty create options, but neither guarantees that every opportunity fits every student’s calendar.
